His Majesty King Abdullah met on Monday NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and members of the alliance in Brussels to discuss bilateral relations, especially in relation to anti-terrorism efforts.

The meeting focused on ways to enhance the efforts of NATO with countries of the Middle East and Africa who have stakes in fighting terrorist groups.

King Abdullah highlighted the importance of the cooperation between concerned countries, stressing that this war is to be fought by Arabs and Muslims in the first place, with the help of friendly nations to eradicate terrorism which, he stressed, has nothing to do with Islam or any religion.

The King also said that it is important to protect Islam from terrorist groups aiming at destruction, murder and disorder, highlighting as well the importance of defending Muslims in Europe and protecting them from Islamophobia, as well as enhancing commonalities between followers of different religions.

Stoltenberg expressed appreciation of the relations between NATO and Jordan, and said that it is important for them to continue working with the Kingdom under the directions of His Majesty to fight the danger of terrorism that is threatening the future of Middle Easterners and the world.
