His Majesty King Abdullah met on Monday with members of the foreign affairs and defence committees at the House of Commons and said UK’s efforts are needed to push the Middle East peace process forward towards the two-state solution.
Talks during the meeting also covered the latest regional developments in the wake of the Arab Spring.
King Abdullah warned against the “deteriorating situation” in Syria and the increase in violence there.
His Majesty said international and regional efforts must be increased to help prevent the “catastrophic” repercussions of the crisis that may push everyone into a “dark tunnel.”
The King also briefed the British lawmakers on Jordan’s reform drive, expressing appreciation for the UK’s support to Jordan.
The committee members commended Jordan’s efforts to achieve reform and ensure peace and stability in the region, pledging to develop bilateral cooperation.
