King Meets Maher, Powel and Wolfenson

His Majesty King Abdullah II held talks on Saturday with US Secretary of State Collin Powel focusing on ways to push the peace process forward and relaunching peace talks between the Palestinians and Israelis.



The King expressed his full support to the US Administration's view to open direct dialogue with Palestinian officials and discuss with them the peace process. He noted that the meeting on Saturday in Amman between Powel and Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmad Qurei and the upcoming meeting between the US Advisor for National Security Condoleezza Rice gives a strong momentum to bring the Palestinians and Israelis back to negotiations. Talks during the meeting also touched upon latest developments in Iraq and reforms in the Meddle East.



His Majesty also held talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Maher focusing on the peace process, the situations in Palestine and the upcoming Arab League summit in Tunis. The King , stressed the necessity to succeed the Arab Summit to come up with a consensus of Arab stance towards the topics on the Summit's agenda.



His Majesty also met with President of World Bank James D. Wolfenson, for talks on cooperation between Jordan and World Bank (WB), and projects financed by WB and implemented by Jordan.



The King expressed his appreciation for the WB for supporting these projects and enhancing the development opportunities in Jordan.
