King Meets Korean Officials

His Majesty King Abdullah met on Sunday with Korean minister of trade and foreign affairs Ban Ki-moon and discussed with him bilateral relations and means of enhancing them in the political and economic fields.



King Abdullah expressed hope of enhancing relations with Korea and enhance the work of the joint higher committee to help in supporting economic ties, increasing trade exchange and attracting investments.



His Majesty pointed to the Korean efforts exerted to regain stability in Iraq and participating in the rebuilding efforts affirming that having a strong and stable Iraq is not only important for the Middle East region only but also for the whole world.



The King said that Jordan will provide all the required facilities and assistance to help Korea in its mission in keeping security and stability in Iraq.



On his part, the Korean ambassador said that Korea supports the roadmap and the efforts of the quartet committee and called for benefitting from the King's efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East and make the region more stable and secure. The minister affirmed the support of the Korean goverment to the UN resolutions on the separation wall which Israel is building in the West Bank.



The Korean minister affirmed that the talks with the King were successful and thanked Jordan for its readiness to facilitate Korean efforts in Iraq.



The minister affirmed that the two countries have huge opportunities to support bilateral trade and investment relations especially after signing four important agreements yesterday.



On the other hand, King Abdullah met on Sunday with Korean businessmen and informed them on the investment opportunities in Jordan after adopting the economic reform policy which lead to an economic growth of 6.9 % within the first quarter of the current year. The King pointed that Jordan has developed an investment model similar to the Irish model and an investment window was established to provide all the required facilities for investors in one place.



King Abdullah said that economic reforms were accompanied by education reforms to develop the educational process.



The king pointed that the most distinctive feature of economic reform was that the private sector was granted big opportunities to increase its participation in the economic growth and provide work opportunities.



King Abdullah affirmed that there is a unique opportunity for the Korean businessmen to establish business in Iraq through the Jordanian market which forms a gate for the Iraqi market.



On a separate event, the new Asian leaders hailed in their meeting with the King the efforts of His Majesty in activating Jordan's economy and pushing it ahead and His Majesty's efforts in supporting women and their participation in the Jordanian society.


The King said that Jordan is continuously working to achieve a peaceful and just solution in the region especially that we hope that the current government in Iraq will achieve some progress.



King Abdullah added that all Arabs and Muslims collectively agree that terrorist actions does not represent the Islamic religion pointing that uprooting terrorism requires achieving just peace and ending the Palestinian-Israeli conflict because it is the core of conflict and instability in the region.



His Majesty also met on Sunday with the presidents of Samsung and Hyundai companies and acknowledged them on Jordan's investment advantages and the available investment opportunities.



The Jordanian government and Hyundai company signed an agreement to enhance industrial cooperation.
