King Meets Korean Foreign Minister

His Majesty King Abdullah II, received at Bait Al Barakah on Thursday, the Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ban Ki-moon, who conveyed to His Majesty a message from the Korean president.



The message contained an invitation to His Majesty to visit Korea
with a view to promote ties of friendship and cooperation between
the two countries.


King Abdullah and the Korean minister discussed during the meeting,
which was attended by Minister of the Hashemite Royal Court, Sameer
Rifai and Foreign Minister, Dr. Marwan Muasher, horizons of cooperation
between the two countries especially in the economic and investment
fields.


His Majesty affirmed that Jordan enjoys strong ties with Korea
on the economic and political levels, and that its looks forward to
enhancing them in the various domains, and to develop ties between
the private sector in both countries.


The King expressed Jordan's readiness to provide all facilities
to Korean companies willing to investment in Iraq, and contribute
to the reconstruction process there.


The Korean minister on his part, voiced admiration over the accomplishments
that have been achieved by Jordan in the various fields. He said that
his country will grant Jordan $5 million to train Jordanian cadres
within the frame of developing economic cooperation between the two
countries.


Ki-moon said that Korea, and as part of its keenness to support
security and stability in Iraq, sent military forces to this country
as well as experts and engineers to develop Iraqi hospitals and health
centers.


"The number of Korean soldiers in Iraq who will shoulder the responsibility
of assisting the Iraqi army and security forces in preserving security,
will stand at 3000 soldiers," the minister said.
