His Majesty King Abdullah started his meetings in New York ahead of his participation in the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly along with a number of world leaders.
King Abdullah met on Sunday with US Secretary of State John Kerry and discussed the latest developments in the region, especially the Syrian crisis and Middle East peace efforts.
The King asserted Jordan's support for efforts to achieve a comprehensive solution to the Syrian crisis that puts an end to the suffering of the Syrian people, the current conflict and chemical weapons dangers, and maintains Syrian unity and territorial integrity.
His Majesty pointed out that Jordan shoulders a huge responsibility in hosting 550,000 Syrian refugees, which is placing huge pressure on the Kingdom's limited resources.
Secretary Kerry, on his part, valued Jordan's efforts in easing the suffering of the Syrian people and expressed US support for such efforts.
Kerry briefed the King on his efforts regarding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict within the frame of the current negotiations on the basis of the two-state solution, which is the only way to end the conflict.
The meeting was attended by senior Jordanian officials.
