His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday met with Jordanians studying at Korean institutes and universities during a reception held by the Jordanian Embassy in Seoul.
King Abdullah, who was accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein, voiced pride in the students and their role in promoting Jordan's image and extending bridges of understanding and dialogue between the Jordanian and Korean people.
His Majesty urged the students to complete their degrees and use their newly acquired expertise and skills to advance development in Jordan. Some of the students were sent by the Jordan Atomic Energy Agency to be trained as nuclear engineers and technicians in reactor operation and maintenance, radioisotope production, and radiation safety. The King urged them to benefit from Korean expertise in nuclear energy to operate the nuclear research facility that will be established at the Jordan University of Science and Technology.
At the reception, which was attended by Their Royal Highnesses Princess Raiyah Bint Al Hussein, Prince Rashid Bin Al Hassan and Prince Zeid Bin Raad, the King checked on the students’ conditions.
His Majesty also met with a delegation of youth and students accompanying him on his visit to Seoul, including the Jordan Taekwondo team who qualified for this summer’s London Olympic Games as well as for the Asian Championship which will be held in Vietnam in the spring.
King Abdullah highlighted the role of youth in Jordan's reform and development process and called for paying more attention and dedicating more efforts to the youth to enable them to shoulder their responsibilities towards the country.
In statements to Jordan News Agency, Petra, a number of students voiced pride in the King's leadership and in his efforts to secure a better future for all Jordanians.
