His Majesty King Abdullah met on Monday with the Jordanian-Korean Parliamentary Friendship Group in Seoul, which includes heads of Korean National Assembly committees, and voiced his appreciation for the group’s efforts to enhance cooperation between Jordan and South Korea, particularly at the parliamentary level.
During the meeting, attended by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, the King noted that the relationship between the two countries started 50 years ago, adding that the increased trade volume between Amman and Seoul is a testimony to the deep ties between the two countries.
His Majesty voiced appreciation for South Korea’s support to Jordan through grants, technical assistance, loans and scholarships, in addition to its contribution to the atomic research reactor, which is to be established at the Jordan University of Science and Technology.
He highlighted economic opportunities between Jordan and Korea, particularly as the Kingdom enjoys a safe and stable investment-friendly environment.
For their part, members of the group underlined their commitment to build on the relationship between Jordan and Korea, adding that the inauguration of the Jordanian embassy in Seoul is yet another proof of the deep relations that both countries enjoy.
They also commended His Majesty’s efforts to bring about peace in the region, stressing their interest in extending South Korean investments in the Kingdom and benefiting from Jordan’s human resources in implementing Korean projects.
King Abdullah also held separate meetings with chief executive officers of major Korean companies and discussed investment opportunities in the Kingdom and fields these companies can contribute in, such as infrastructure, energy, water, construction, pharmaceuticals, electronics and defence.
The meetings were attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein and His Royal Highness Prince Rashid.
