His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday met with notables and members of several tribes representing the Northern Ghor.

King Abdullah, who was accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein and His Royal Highness Prince Feisal, was greeted by thousands of residents in the area.

At the meeting, Sheikh Nemer Al Zanati, who said Jordan and the region are facing tough times, stressed that the Kingdom is capable of overcoming all challenges.

“In spite of being of limited resources and amidst the turmoil around us, Jordan is a stable and secure country and preserving our security is the responsibility of all Jordanians,” said Zanati in a speech during the meeting.

He said that there are internal and external threats to the country, adding that the most serious issue among these dangers are attempts to cause internal division.

“National unity is sacred. National unity is the sole guarantee to foil any agenda which seeks to harm the country,” he said, stressing the necessity not to blindly follow what is aired on TV channels about regional developments.

On the area’s concerns, he called for addressing farmers' indebtedness, examining water allocation and re-equipping and maintaining Wadi Al Rayyan Hospital, which provides services for about 120,000 people.
