King Meets Iranian Vice-President

His Majesty King Abdullah II affirmed on Wednesday Jordan's Keenness to develop its relations with Iran in the economic, social and cultural fields.



During a meeting with the Iranian Vice-President and Head of the Iranian organization for Physical Training, Mohsen Mehr-Alizadeh, the King said that ties of cooperation between Jordan and Iranian are steadily moving forward, indicating that he instructed the government to implement agreements that had been agreed upon during his visit to Iran.



The agreements were signed during Prime Minister Faisal Al Fayez's visit to Iran.



During the meeting, which was attended by Hashemite Royal Court Minister Sameer Rifai and Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher, the King said that the private sector of both countries could invest in the economic fields, particularly in water and tourism projects.



His Majesty also discussed with the Iranian official, the situation in Iraq, and means of helping Iraq's neighboring countries to support security and stability in it.



The Iranian vice-president conveyed to His Majesty greetings of the Iranian President Mohammad Khatami as well as his appreciation to the King's efforts to establish solid ties with Iran and achieve peace and security in the Middle East.



"President Khatami issued directives to implement all agreements that had been signed between the two countries," Zadeh added.



He praised His Majesty's positions towards Iraq as well as Jordan's keenness to build an independent and unified Iraq.



The Iranian vice-president noted to the wise policies adopted by His Majesty King Abdullah on reform in the region, and which affirm that these reforms should come from within.



His Royal Highness Prince Faisal Bin Al Hussein and head of the Jordanian Olympic Committee also met with the Iranian vice-president, during which he discussed with him bilateral ties especially in youth and sports fields.



The meeting was attended the Mayor of Amman Nidal Al Hadid and president of the Higher Youth Council Ma'moun Noriddin.



The Iranian vice president will attend this evening a football match between Jordan and Iran.
