King meets international officials at security conference

His Majesty King Abdullah on Friday continued meeting heads of delegations and international officials taking part in Munich Security Conference in Germany.

King Abdullah met separately with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Canadian Defense Minister Harjit Singh Sajjan and EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini.

During the meetings with these officials, the King discussed Jordan’s bilateral ties with their countries as well as with the European Union. The King also focused on efforts to fight Daesh and find a political solution to the Syrian crisis. Further, His Majesty underlined the need to find a swift and comprehensive solution to the Syrian crisis, warning that the lack of such solution would nurture such terrorist organisations.

In a meeting with the EU foreign policy chief, His Majesty reiterated the recent London donor conference and the importance to build on its outcomes. The King also spoke about the need to support Syrian refugees host countries, mainly Jordan, to help them continue their humanitarian roles towards the refugees.
