King Meets Head of the ICRC Delegation

His Majesty King Abdullah II, affirmed his support to the various activities and humanitarian services provided by the International Committee of the Red Cross, (ICRC) in Jordan and in the region's countries.



During a meeting at Bait Al Baraka on Tuesday, with Head of the ICRC Delegation in Amman, Guy Mellet, the King expressed appreciation for these services that effectively contribute to easing the suffering of people especially the civilians caused by disasters, crises and wars.



Head of the ICRC delegation for his part, praised, during the meeting which was attended by Minister of the Hashemite Royal Court, Sameer Rifai, His Majesty's continuous support to activities of the ICRC in the various parts of the world.



Mellet also expressed his thanks to Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah for her personal support to activities of the ICRC, as well as the Queen's efforts to spread the principles of international human law.



The ICRC official presented a detailed briefing to His Majesty on the committee's activities and programs that will be implemented, and are being implemented in Jordan.



One of the main activities was the opening of an office in Ruweished to provide humanitarian aid to the civilian who arrived in Ruweished as a result of the war on Iraq. The committee also held specialized workshops and seminars on human rights and international laws dealing with this issue.
