King meets German opposition leader

His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday met with German Bundestag opposition leader Frank-Walter Steinmeier and discussed cooperation and the latest developments in the region.

King Abdullah highlighted the strong ties between Jordan and Germany.

Talks covered efforts to bring about peace in the region by resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

His Majesty underlined the need to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis, citing the burden imposed on Jordan due to the influx of refugees.

For his part, Steinmeier, who is also a former foreign minister, commended the King’s endeavours to restore peace and stability to the region.

Also on Thursday, Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh met with Steinmeier and discussed bilateral ties and the latest regional developments.
