King meets Fuheis residents, extends Christmas wishes

His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday visited Fuheis and met with city representatives and notables.

As the visit coincided with Christmas celebrations among the Christian community there, His Majesty congratulated residents on this occasion.

During the meeting, which was attended by Crown Prince Hussein, parliament member Dirar Al Dawood addressed the issue of environmental pollution  resulting from the cement plant in the city and  urged the government to solve this issue.

Christian figures attending the meeting expressed their appreciation for the visit  and emphasised the  tolerance and cooperation among Jordanian Muslims and Christians.

At the end of the meeting, His Majesty received a rare ancient copy of the Holy Quran from Al Dawood and a gold-ornamented Holy Bible from Fuheis residents,  while His Beatitude the Patriarch of the Jerusalem Orthodox Church presented His Majesty with a model of the Nativity Grotto decorated with seashells, on behalf of the city of Bethlehem.

His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi along with other officials were present at the meeting.
