His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday reiterated the need to finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis in a manner that safeguards the unity and independence of the Arab country.
During a meeting with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, who was on a visit to the Kingdom as part of a regional tour, King Abdullah warned against repercussions of the unrest in Syria and its effects on security and stability of the region.
The King stressed that the international community has a responsibility to end the crisis and spare the Syrian people any further suffering.
As a neighbouring country, Jordan will continue to provide Syrian refugees with support, assistance and the needed relief services, despite the additional burden they place on the country’s “resources and potential”, His Majesty noted.
His Majesty voiced his appreciation for France’s support to the Kingdom in enhancing its ability to provide Syrian refugees with services.
Talks also focused on means to enhance bilateral ties.
Earlier this week, France dispatched relief aid and medical equipment as well as a field hospital to the Zaatari Refugee Camp near Mafraq, 80 kilometres north of Amman.
