His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday told EU and G-8 envoys to Jordan that the Middle East was banking on their countries' efforts to achieve tangible results in the peace process, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
At a Royal Court meeting, the King called on the international community to adopt the Arab Peace Initiative to help find a comprehensive and permanent solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict.
The initiative showed the entire world that Arabs were ready to establish peace with Israel in return for its withdrawal from occupied territories, he stressed.
King Abdullah told the diplomats that more international efforts were needed to help Iraq restore stability and security, reiterating that Jordan backs reconciliation in the neighboring country.
On Lebanon, he urged the EU and G-8 to help the country overcome its current crisis and rebuilding process.
