His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday held talks with EU ambassadors to Jordan, reiterating his condemnation of Israel's offensive against Lebanon.

Urging an immediate ceasefire, the King told the envoys that the region will never be stable and secure unless the Palestinian issue is solved.

The meeting took place in the course of the King's continuous efforts to muster international backing for an immediate ceasefire as the sole way for defusing the crisis.

King Abdullah underscored the necessity for extending various types of humanitarian assistance to the Lebanese people in these circumstances.

The King, who was to leave for Kuwait tomorrow to discuss the situation in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories with Emir Sheikh Sabah Amhad Al Sabah, ordered the dispatch of a field hospital to Lebanon.

Also on Sunday, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak telephoned King Abdullah and reviewed with him the latest developments in Lebanon.
