His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday received Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Qandil, who conveyed a message from Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi to the King to visit Egypt.

The message also stressed the need to continue coordination and consultation on means to enhance bilateral ties as well as on different Arab and regional issues of common concern.

During the meeting, which was attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah and Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, the King affirmed the strong Jordanian-Egyptian ties, stressing keenness on enhancing them, especially in political and economic fields.

His Majesty also highlighted the importance of holding the Joint Jordanian-Egyptian Committee to enhance and institutionalise bilateral relations, calling on the Jordanian officials to coordinate with their Egyptian counterparts to maximise cooperation in various areas.

The meeting also dealt with regional developments, especially the situation in Syria, where the King stressed the need to end the bloodshed in the neighbouring country and preserve the safety, security and stability of the Syrian people.

His Majesty and Qandil also discussed the peace process, and means to benefit from the recognition of Palestine as a non-member state observer at the UN to establish an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, and in line with the two-state solution.

Qandil, for his part, valued the King's stands towards Egypt and its people, noting His Majesty's efforts to support Arab issues, especially the Palestinian cause, as well as the King’s exerted efforts to establish peace and stability in the region.

He also commended reforms that Jordan accomplished in various areas, voicing keenness to enhance bilateral ties with Jordan in various domains.

The meeting was attended by a number of Jordanian and Egyptian senior officials.
