His Majesty King Abdullah and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, on Monday, warned that the continued Israeli aggressions and violations against the Al Aqsa Mosque would have serious implications on security and stability in the region.

During talks they held on the sidelines of their participation in the 70th session of the UN General Assembly, the two leaders called for continuing efforts to revive the peace process between Palestinians and Israelis based on the two-state solution and international resolutions, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on pre-1967 lines with its capital in East Jerusalem.

In this context, the Egyptian president hailed King Abdullah’s efforts to protect Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

The two leaders stressed, during the talks attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the need to continue coordination on various regional issues, including counter-terror efforts and the repercussions of the Syrian crisis.

They renewed the call for a political solution to the Syrian crisis to preserve Syria's unity and territorial integrity.

President Sisi emphasised the importance of extending further support to Jordan which hosts the largest number of Syrian refugees in the region.
