His Majesty King Abdullah received a letter from Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on developments in the region, peace-making efforts and the latest developments in ongoing efforts to realise Palestinian reconciliation.
King Abdullah received the letter at a meeting Monday with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit and Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman.
The two officials briefed the King on Egypt's mediation to end inter-Palestinian rivalry and achieve reconciliation among Palestinian factions.
The King stressed Jordan's full support for Egypt's efforts in this regard, saying he highly values its role in working to end the Palestinian divide.
He said realising Palestinian reconciliation is a national Palestinian interest and a critical step towards realising the Palestinian rights, especially their right to independence and statehood.
Royal Court Chief Nasser Lozi, King's advisor Ayman Safadi, Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh and Director of the General Intelligence Department General Muhammad Raqqad attended the meeting.
