His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday reiterated calls for a comprehensive political solution to the Syrian crisis.

During a meeting with a delegation of US congressional aides, King Abdullah highlighted the increasing burdens on the Kingdom’s limited resources as a result of the large influx of Syrian refugees.

Discussions also covered bilateral relations and latest regional developments.

Regarding Palestinian-Israeli peace efforts, the King underscored the important role that the US plays in the process and the priority that the international community should give to efforts to bring Palestinians and Israelis back to the negotiating table.

His Majesty spoke of the comprehensive reform programmes in the Kingdom, stressing Jordan's commitment to ensuring that economic and political reform go hand-in-hand.
