King Meets Chairman of France Telecom

His Majesty King Abdullah II received on Wednesday, France Telecom Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Thierry Breton, who conveyed to His Majesty a message from French President Jacques Chirac dealing with cooperation between the two countries especially in the investment and economic fields.

His Majesty affirmed his support to the existing partnership between Jordan Telecom and France Telecom." We are working towards achieving progress in the education sector through linking it with advanced communications technology, and we are aware that the qualified human is the one who can deal with tools of the modern age and serve his homeland efficiently," the King said.

Breton affirmed, during the meeting which was attended by Royal Court Chief Sameer Rifai, Finance Minister Mohammad Abu Hamour and Head of the Board of Directors of Jordan Telecom, Shabib Ammari, that Jordan's positive investment climate forms a strong incentive for French companies to increase their investments in Jordan. "We, in the company, are working to implement His Majesty's vision for the future of technology, communications and education that suits Jordan and Jordanians," He added.

The FT chairman said that Jordan was one of the first countries to computerize education and introduce computers to schools. "France Telecom is committed to full partnership with Jordan Telecom, and to continue investments in this vital sector, and will introduce modern and advanced technology into Jordan," Breton added.

He said that the company's successful investment in Jordan will contribute to developing its performance as well as services provided to citizens.
