King meets Benita Ferrero-Waldner

His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday met with EU Commissioner for External Relations and Neighbourhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner and discussed the Middle East peace process, the situation in Iraq as well as means to bolster Jordanian- European ties.



During the meeting, His Majesty the King commended the EU's role in supporting the peace process and encouraging the Palestinians and the Israelis to take more confidence-building measures.



The King also reiterated that Jordan will work hard to help advance the peace process and called on the international community to pay more efforts to help implement the road map.



On Iraq, His Majesty the King stressed the importance of encouraging all components of the Iraqi people to participate in the political process and build a stable and unified Iraq.



King Abdullah reiterated Jordan's support for the upcoming Barcelona summit, which aims at strengthening the Euro-Mediterranean partnership.



The King and Ferrero-Waldner also discussed means to enhance cooperation between Jordan and the EU.



During the meeting, King Abdullah pointed out to Jordan's efforts to achieve more political, economic and social reforms.



On her part, Waldner commended Jordan's efforts in pushing forward the Mideast peace process, expressing the EU's support to Jordan's efforts to introduce more reforms and enhance democracy.
