His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday met with notables and representatives of the Balawi tribe in Zarqa Governorate.
At the meeting, part of a series of meetings between King Abdullah and community and tribal leaders in rural and urban areas, the Badia as well as refugee camps, notables of the tribe briefed the King on local concerns and expressed support for Jordan’s reform and modernisation.
Sheikh Salameh Balawi expressed appreciation for “the wise leadership of the King who led Jordan to become a developed and modern country despite the lack of resources and the turbulent surroundings”.
Sheikh Balawi also discussed community needs, especially those related to education and employment, urged the army to recruit young people from the tribe and requested scholarships.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit, Royal Court Chief Khaled Karaki, King’s Adviser for Tribal Affairs Sharif Fawaz Zaben, Royal Court Adviser Yousef Issawi and Zarqa Governor Samih Majali.
