His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday met with a visiting delegation from the American Jewish Committee (AJC), urging regional and international parties to engage in efforts to revive the Middle East peace process to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
 
King Abdullah said during the meeting that work was needed to end the stalemate facing the peace process and revive negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis on the basis of the two-state solution.
 
The King stressed that the two-state solution is the sole means to achieve a comprehensive and just peace in the Middle East.
 
Established in 1906, the AJC is an international think-tank and advocacy organisation that supports a negotiated two-state settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, according to its website.
 
His Majesty stressed the importance of seizing the opportunity that materialised after Palestine won a UN vote to upgrade its status to non-member observer state, to support peace efforts and end the state of conflict in the region.
 
The King said all international and regional parties concerned with the Palestinian issue, primarily the US, should engage in efforts to jump-start peace negotiations, highlighting the need to seize the opportunity offered by President Barack Obama’s second term to revive talks.
 
His Majesty emphasized that peace efforts will not succeed unless Israel stops all unilateral measures, its settlement expansion and attempts to Judaise the Holy City of Jerusalem.

The meeting, attended by US Ambassador to Jordan Stuart E. Jones, also reviewed the latest regional developments.
 
AJC members expressed their appreciation of His Majesty’s support for efforts to achieve just and comprehensive peace in the region.
