King Meets Allawi and President of the World Bank

His Majesty King Abdullah II stressed the importance of preserving the unity of the Iraqi people, affirming the importance of a comprehensive participation in the Iraqi elections.

Upon receiving Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi on Wednesday, the King stressed Jordan's keenness to provide Iraqi people with every possible assistance with a view to enabling them overcome the current hard circumstances.

King Abdullah affirmed that he will continue his contacts with the international community and the donor countries to contribute effectively to rebuilding Iraq.

Talks also covered efforts being exerted by the Iraqi government to create a suitable climate for holding the elections.

On the other hand, King Abdullah met with President the World Bank James Wolfensohn.

Talks covered scopes of bilateral cooperation between the two sides as well as the Bank's efforts to assist the Palestinian people to re-build their institutions.

King Abdullah expressed appreciation for the Bank over its assistance to Jordan to implement developmental projects.

Wolfensohn, who attended part of King Abdullah with Allawi, praised economic accomplishments achieved in Jordan.
