Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania left on Friday for a working visit to the US, during which King Abdullah will hold a summit meeting with US President Barack Obama to discuss developing bilateral relations and the latest regional developments.

The visit comes within the framework of ongoing coordination and consultations between His Majesty and Obama, who visited the Kingdom for talks with the King on regional developments on March 22-23 and is now scheduled to receive His Majesty at the White House on April 26.

Discussions will include the ongoing Syrian crisis and how best to coordinate positions on the spiralling conflict and its repercussions, especially in light of the continued influx of Syrian refugees into the Kingdom.

Talks will also cover efforts to achieve Middle East peace, on the basis of the two-state solution, as well as ways to cement the already solid US-Jordan partnership.

During the Washington visit, His Majesty is scheduled to meet with several members of the US administration and Congress, including heads of key committees in the Senate and House of Representatives.

The King will also meet with representatives of Arab and Muslim communities in the US and attend part of the US-Jordan Business Alliance meeting that will be held in Washington during the visit.

HRH Prince Feisal was sworn in as Regent during His Majesty’s absence.
