King Leaves for London in His Way to the US

His Majesty King Abdullah II left Amman on Wednesday heading for London on his way to the US where he will hold talks with US President ,George Bush, and members of the US administration on reviving the peace process and the current situations in Iraq.

King's talks in the US will also focus on bilateral relations, particularly in the investment and economic spheres. The King will meet during his several- day working visit with officials form the US Congress to discuss means of supporting peace efforts as well as the US aid to Jordan.

It is noted that His Majesty the King sent a letter to the US President last Sunday in which he stressed Jordan's stand which calls for ending the Palestinian- Israeli conflict though implementing the road map peace plan. The King also stressed in his letter that the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza strip should be a part of the roadmap.

His Majesty affirmed that Jordan will exert its utmost efforts to provide Palestinians with support and assistance with view to enable them build their capabilities and control the situations in Gaza after the Israeli withdrawal.

During the visit, King Abdullah will deliver a keynote address in the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco, he will also deliver a speech in the National Press Council in the US Capital in the presence of US media representatives and political figures.

Within the frame of His Majesty's keenness to promote youth participation in the various fields in the life, His Majesty the King will be accompanied by four distinguished students from the Jordanian universities with a view to enable them look into His Majesty's efforts in his foreign visits as well as to look into the advanced US expertise in the fields of economy, investment, and Information technology.

King Abdullah will meet a number of US businessmen and investors to brief them on the Jordanian investment opportunities, particularly in the information technology field. His Majesty will also meet with a number of Arab- US associations' members.

In addition, His Majesty will head a series of meetings in California between Jordanian and US businessmen.

The King is accompanies by King's advisor for security affairs/ Director of the General Intelligence Department/ Rapporteur of State Security Council Sa'ad Kheir, Minister of the Royal Court, Samir Rifa'i, King's advisor ,Aqel Bultaji, the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and the Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology.

Prime Minister, Faisal Fayez will later join the King during the talks that will be held in Washington.

HRH Prince Faisal Ben Al Hussein was sworn in as regent in the presence of the Cabinet ministers.
