His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday stressed the central role the Economic and Social Association of Retired Servicemen and Veterans (ESARSV) plays in upgrading the living conditions of retired military personnel.

Receiving the newly appointed Director General of ESARSV Mahmoud Irdeisat on Monday, King Abdullah underlined the need to immediately implement the corporation’s restructuring plan according to well-defined programmes with fixed timetables.

His Majesty said restructuring ESARSV will ultimately result in more and better-quality services to retirees and their families.

The ESARSV restructuring plan came in fulfilment of the King’s directives earlier this year.

Irdeisat expressed his gratitude for the King’s support for ESARSV and ex-servicemen.

The meeting was attended by Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh and His Majesty’s Office Director Imad Fakhoury.

Established in 1974, ESARSV oversees the affairs of retired servicemen and works to provide them and their sons with appropriate job opportunities, in cooperation with other stakeholders.

Last year, the government designated February 15 as national Veterans Day in recognition of the services of retired military personnel, upon His Majesty’s directives.
