His Majesty King Abdullah said on Friday on the occasion of Labour Day that Jordan's celebration of Labour Day shows the country's respect for workers' role in the development process.
In a letter, addressed to President of the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions (GFJTU) Mazen Maaytah, King Abdullah stressed that Jordanians are the country's true wealth and both the means and the object of its development process.
The King said that achieving economic progress and investing in Jordanian workers' potential requires improving their living conditions and enhancing their skills through training programmes.
In a reply to the King on Saturday, Maaytah cited the contributions of Jordanian workers to the country's development under Hashemite leadership, highlighting that support for workers extends beyond social services to cover all basic requirements.
The GFJTU president also emphasised the Kingdom's continued upgrading of labour-related legislation.
