His Majesty King Abdullah, Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, on Monday inaugurated the new premises of the Public Security Department's (PSD’s) explosives unit.

King Abdullah was briefed on the technologies and equipment utilised by the unit to handle and dismantle explosives and investigate post-blast scenes.

His Majesty also watched a demonstration of the procedures taken after receiving a tip about suspected explosives and how to defuse bombs using the latest technologies.

The exercise was implemented in cooperation with the PSD special force SWAT 30.

The King commended the professionalism and "advanced level" of the new unit.

PSD Director General Gen. Tawfiq Tawalbeh said the department is moving ahead with a modernisation project for all its units and affiliated agencies.
