King hosts lunch banquet in celebration of Prince Hashem's wedding

His Majesty King Abdullah on Saturday hosted a lunch banquet in celebration of HRH Prince Hashem's wedding to Princess Fahdah, daughter of Sheikh Mohammad Ben Ibrahim Ben Suleiman Abu Niyyan.

Guests from Saudi Arabia and Oman, tribal and refugee camp leaders, journalists, diplomats, senior officials and officers attended the lunch.

Born in Amman in 10th of June 1981 to Their Majesties King Hussein bin Talal and Queen Noor Al Hussein, Prince Hashem is the 41st generation direct descendent of the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him), and the youngest brother of His Majesty King Abdullah.

Prince Hashem received elementary education in Amman and then attended the schools of St Marks and Fay in the US. He later graduated from Washington's Maret School in 1999.

Prince Hashem passed out from the Royal Military Acdemy at Sandhurst in 2000 and was awarded the Prince Saud Bin Abdullah Prize, presented to the cadet with the best aggregate mark in academic subject. He also received a number of high decorations from the Kingdom and abroad.

Serving as a Captain in the Jordan Arab Army's 3rd Royal Ranger Battalion, His Royal Highness attended several military and security courses.

In August 2005, His Royal Highness obtained his undergraduate degree in Comparative Studies from Georgetown University - School of Foreign Service.

Prince Hashim is the President of the Arab Diving Federation and the Honorary President of the Jordan Kickboxing Association.
