King honours scholars taking part in Aal al-Bayt Institute conference

His Majesty King Abdullah, on Monday, honoured scholars participating in the 17th conference of the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought, in recognition of their services and role in defending Islam and clarifying its true image.

The conference is being held in Amman on the chronology of events in Prophet Mohammad’s life.

At a ceremony held at the Al Husseiniya Palace, attended by His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi, the King’s Personal Envoy and Adviser for Religious and Cultural Affairs, and the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought, King Abdullah bestowed medals upon a number of scholars and handed others the institute's membership certificates.

Director General of the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought Minwer Meheid said in remarks during the ceremony that the 17th conference of the institute brings together leading Islamic scholars, who came from various countries within efforts to serve Islam and Muslims.

The three-day conference is held with the participation of 85 scholars representing Islamic institutions from Arab, Islamic and foreign countries.

Also attending the event was the chief of the Royal Hashemite Court.
