His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday voiced Jordan’s appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s “constant” support to the Kingdom in the face of difficult economic conditions and amid continued efforts to achieve reforms.
King Abdullah made these remarks during a meeting in Riyadh with Saudi King Abdullah Ben Abdul Aziz, during which the two leaders discussed means to foster bilateral relations and the latest regional developments.
The two leaders also discussed several issues of mutual concern as part of continued consultation and coordination between them. They stressed their commitment to boosting bilateral cooperation and strengthening the brotherly ties between their countries.
Emphasising the two countries’ joint interests, the Saudi leader stressed his country’s support for Jordan’s reform drive to achieve comprehensive development.
On Middle East peace, the two leaders stressed their support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to end the Israeli occupation and establish their own independent state on Palestinian national soil, on the basis of the two-state solution and in accordance with international resolutions.
They also addressed recent developments in Syria, stressing the need to resolve the Syrian crisis within the framework of Arab consensus and voicing their rejection of the direction of events in Syria and the acts of violence committed there, which they said the Syrian people are paying the price for.
Talks also addressed means to bolster Arab solidarity and joint Arab action, in order to reach a unified position on various current challenges.
Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Hussein, Prince Feisal and Jordanian and Saudi officials attended the talks.
His Majesty returned home later on Monday.
