King holds talks with Kazakh prime minister

His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday held talks with Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov who conveyed to the greetings of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and his keenness to bolster relations of cooperation between the two countries.

At the meeting, which continued over a lunch banquet, King Abdullah stressed his desire to cement cooperation between Jordan and Kazakhstan, whose relations are developing "remarkably".

Discussions at the meeting covered means to enhance cooperation in the fields of energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, tourism and construction.

The King highlighted opportunities available for the private sectors of both countries to increase their investments in Jordan and Kazakhstan.

The Kazakh premier stressed his country's keenness to build solid ties with Jordan in various fields.

They also discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Jordan and Kazakhstan have signed 18 agreements and trade volume between the two countries reached $75 million over the past three years.

A centre for enhancing Jordanian exports to Kazakhstan will open in the capital Astana this month.

Last year, Kazakh cultural week was held in Amman, during which the two countries agreed on a programme to boost tourism exchange for the next two years.
