Jordan and Italy on Monday reiterated their calls for an end to the bloodshed in Syria and the violence committed against civilians there.
His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday stressed his support for a political solution for the Syrian crisis, in a manner that safeguards the unity and the stability of Syria and puts an end to the cycle of violence and bloodshed in the northern neighbour.
During a meeting with Italian President Giorgio Napolitano, the two leaders also discussed the latest developments in the Middle East, peace efforts and the political changes in Arab countries, including the situation in Syria.
The King emphasised the importance of Italy’s support for Mideast peace efforts and bringing the Palestinians and Israelis back to the negotiating table to work out a solution leading to the establishment of a Palestinian state within 1967 borders.
Commending the high level of cooperation between the two countries, King Abdullah and Napolitano stressed their commitment to further enhancing bilateral relations.
King Abdullah highlighted the opportunities available in Jordan that the two countries can build on, especially in the fields of culture, tourism, energy and transport.
He also emphasised the opportunities that the Italian private sector can benefit from, highlighting Jordan’s conducive investment environment.
The Italian president hailed His Majesty King Abdullah’s leadership and his reform vision, commending his efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region and promote interfaith dialogue.
