His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday held talks in Cairo with Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, head of Egypt’s ruling military council, on means to boost bilateral cooperation, the latest regional developments and other issues of mutual concern.
During the talks, King Abdullah stressed Jordan’s full commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Egypt and building on previous cooperation in a manner that serves the interests of the two countries.
The King expressed hope that Egypt will continue to play a pivotal regional role in the Arab world and the entire Middle East, and that the Egyptian people will realise the development, progress and democracy to which they aspire.
Addressing the latest developments in the Arab region and efforts to push the Middle East peace process forward, the two countries agreed to continue consultation and coordination vis-à-vis these issues to boost joint Arab action and serve Arab interests.
The talks were attended by Royal Court Chief Khaled Karaki and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Lt. Gen. Mashal Al Zaben. From the Egyptian side, Prime Minister Issam Sharaf, Finance Minister Samir Radwan and Petroleum Minister Abdulla Ghorab were present at the meeting.
The King returned home later in the day.
