King holds talks with British Prime Minster

His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday discussed with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown efforts to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution, which the King stressed is the only way to bring about security and stability in the region.

The King and Brown discussed the latest developments in the peace process, including the start of indirect talks between the Palestinians and Israelis, as well as the next steps that should be taken to guarantee the needed progress is made to end the conflict within a regional context to reach a comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

During the meeting, attended by Prime Minister Samir Rifai, the King stressed the importance of more international efforts to overcome the obstacles that hinder the peace process, warning against wasting time as the region and the entire world will pay the price if peace efforts fail.

King Abdullah highlighted the importance of the British role in achieving peace that leads to the establishment of an independent and viable Palestinian state living side-by-side in peace with Israel.

Talks also covered bilateral relations and means to boost cooperation especially in the economic field.

His Majesty also met with British Foreign Secretary David Miliband and discussed steps to be taken to guarantee tangible progress in peace talks.
