King holds talks with Belgian prime minister

His Majesty King Abdullah and Belgian Prime Minister Herman Van Rompuy, who is on a private visit to the Kingdom, discussed on Thursday regional developments and Jordan's ties with Belgium and the EU.

Discussions covered pressing issues in the Middle East and efforts to bring about regional peace as well as bilateral ties, about which King Abdullah said there is potential to foster economic and commercial cooperation.

The King stressed Jordan's keenness to continue building strong partnerships and cooperation with the EU countries to realise joint interests.

He also reviewed regional developments, emphasising the need for serious negotiations to achieve a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, is the foundation for just and permanent peace in the region.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Nader Dahabi, Chief of the Royal Court Nasser Lozi, King's Adviser Ayman Safadi and Belgium's ambassador to Jordan Johan Indekeu.
