His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday concluded his visit to Beijing with a summit meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, during which discussions focused on bilateral ties and means to develop cooperation at all levels.

In a one-on-one before being joined by top aides, the two leaders discussed the latest regional developments, efforts to bring about peace and the Syrian crisis.

King Abdullah said Jordan and China enjoy deep-rooted ties, and expressed readiness to boost these ties to serve both peoples' interests. He expressed admiration for the Chinese development model, noting Jordan's desire to benefit from the Asian nation's expertise.

His Majesty said Jordan seeks to attract more foreign investments, thanks to its strategic location, qualified workforce, stability, and the free trade agreements signed with international blocs and individual countries.

On Jordan's domestic achievements, the King said the Kingdom is forging ahead with reform, noting that parliamentary elections were held in January this year and soon followed by the recent municipal elections. The parliamentary elections were hailed as transparent and fair by international observers, His Majesty stressed.

"China is a key partner in global issues," the King said, noting the Asian country’s role in the Palestinian issue. His Majesty said international support was needed for peace talks between Palestinians and Israelis to bring about a comprehensive peace and establish an independent Palestinian state on Palestinian national soil, co-existing in peace alongside Israel.

On Syria, the King reiterated Jordan's call for a political solution to the Syrian crisis that ends the bloodshed and preserves the unity and stability of the country. His Majesty spoke about the repercussions of the Syrian crisis on the region, such as the influx of Syrian refugees. Jordan is hosting the largest number of those refugees, the King said, noting the pressure they place on the Kingdom's resources.

His Majesty urged the international community to shoulder its responsibility and help Jordan continue providing services to the Syrian refugees. In this regard, the King thanked China for the support it provided to Jordan.

The Chinese president welcomed the King’s visit saying "Jordan is China's good friend and partner." President Xi vowed closer economic and investment cooperation with the Kingdom, and thanked Jordan for the incentives provided to China's current and forecast investments in the Kingdom.

The Chinese president said Jordan’s reforms over the past two years were hailed by the international community, and vowed to support the security and stability of Jordan, thanks to the strategic relations between the two countries.

China, he added, is ready to help Jordan with mega projects in the fields of infrastructure, services, energy and transportation.

The president also hailed His Majesty’s efforts to enhance peace and security in the Middle East, noting that China was ready to coordinate with Jordan to address the challenges facing the Middle East.

The King invited the Chinese president to visit Jordan in order to build on the achievements of the visit.

Later, the two leaders attended the signing of bilateral cooperation agreements on energy, media and military cooperation.

Upon arrival at the Beijing Grand Public Hall, His Majesty was accorded an official reception.
