His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, on Wednesday said Public Security Department (PSD) personnel should continue to provide modern police services, in accordance with related legislation and international human rights standards.

During a meeting with PSD Director Major General Hussein Hazaa Majali, senior officers and commanders of different units, King Abdullah said the PSD must work to safeguard citizens' rights, ensure security and enforce the rule of law in a humane manner that achieves justice and equality.

Voicing confidence in the PSD personnel, the King emphasised the importance of reviewing plans and programmes to reduce traffic accidents and follow up on rehabilitation and correctional centres development plans.

King Abdullah also highlighted the need to develop crime prevention methods and apply modern technologies to improve services in all areas of police work.
