His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday granted JD14 million to the families of 1,697 military, security and defence personnel, who were killed in the battlefield.
I ordered the government, the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF), the Public Security Department, the General Intelligence Department and other security bodies to provide all support for the martyrs' families, King Abdullah told a Royal Court gathering of 25 relatives of martyrs mainly died during the 1967 war.
It's our duty to take care of you and provide you with assistance, the King said, which marked the 40th anniversary of the war.
The King said that a committee will work to name important places after martyrs in order to remember their sacrifices generation after generation.
Others at the meeting said they highly appreciated the King's makruma.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff General Khaled Sarayreh, meanwhile, voiced the Armed Forces' appreciation for the makruma.
