His Majesty King Abdullah II on Wednesday expressed his worries about the increasing number of road accidents and what they cause of human and financial losses.



Speaking during a visit to Jordan Traffic Institute, accompanied by Her Majesty Queen Rania, King Abdullah urged the concerned parties to draw up well-studied strategies and plans to reduce road a ccidents and their tragic consequences.



The King also stressed the necessity to pinpoint the main
reasons behind these accidents and put forward effective recommendations
and solutions that can increase safety on roads.


King Abdullah, who was also accompanied by Prime Minister,
Royal Court Minister and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation,
hoped that the institute's plans and programs would increase traffic
awareness particularly amongst children and drivers.


Queen Rania noted the important role of the media and school
programs to increase this awareness.


According to statistics released by Traffic Police Department,
road accidents killed 850 people last year and 17,000 were injured,
3,000 of them sustained permanent deformity.
