His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday entrusted HRH Prince Hamzah with heading a Royal panel to revise and modernize the national strategy for energy.

The King told Premier Marouf Bakhit in a letter that the objective was to meet challenges facing the sector.

“Sustainable development largely depends on the national economy's ability to ensure the availability of energy resources,” the King said in the letter.

King Abdullah also directed the committee to reconsider the national strategy to restructure the entire energy sector and set a viable plan for coming 15 years in line with country's needs as well as clear timetable and goals.
