His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday will start a two-day working visit to Brussels.

King Abdullah is scheduled to meet participants in the European People's Party Summit that will kick off December 15.

During the summit, the King will hold talks with several European leaders and members of the party on means to enhance Jordanian-European relations, now that Jordan enjoys advanced status in its partnership with the EU - the first country in the Middle East to achieve this status.

Meetings will also focus on means to promote respect, coexistence, tolerance and understanding among followers of different religions, in light of the UN General Assembly's adoption of a Jordanian initiative to organise a “World Interfaith Harmony Week”, during the first week of February every year.

Discussions will also cover Middle East developments and challenges to Middle East peace-making.

During his visit, the King is scheduled to hold talks with King Albert II, Prime Minister Yves Leterme and other senior officials on means to enhance bilateral relations, regional developments and other issues of mutual concern.

He will also hold separate meetings with President of the European Council Herman van Rompuy, President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton. Talks will focus on means to foster relations with the EU and on ways to overcome obstacles hindering peace efforts.
