His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday donated JD250,000 to build a permanent headquarters for Jordanian Press Association (JPA) and Journalism Club that would include a training center for journalists, Prime Minister Faisal al-Fayez announced during an iftar banquet held by JPA, which was also attended by several cabinet ministers.

The King also instructed the government to speed up measures to allocate a plot of land at a low price to be used as a housing project for JPA members, Fayez said.

JPA President Tareq Momani expressed deep thanks on behalf of JPA members to His Majesty King Abdullah for this noble gesture and thanked the Prime Minister for his continued support to JPA and Jordanian journalists.

He also commended the government's openness and transparent dialogue with people from all walks of life. The Jordanian journalists will maintain the free and honest word in highlighting the country's accomplishments and will stick to objectivity and credibility and keep away from personal defamation in their criticism of mistakes and shortcomings, Momani said.
