An open-day telethon campaign to support Jordan football team ahead of its World Cup qualifier play-off against Uruguay raised over JD1.9 on Friday.
The national campaign was organised by Jordan Television in cooperation with the Jordan Football Association (JFA). It started at 1.30pm and ended at 8pm and was broadcast on Jordan TV and Jordan FM radio station.
His Majesty King Abdullah called the programme and presented a donation of JD350,000 for the national team.
In his phone call, His Majesty commended the efforts of Jordan TV and the JFA, saying that everyone in Jordan supports the Nashama.
“Regardless of the result, I’m very proud of the Nashama and God willing they will lift our spirits,” the King said.
His Majesty also thanked Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE armed forces, and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE vice president and prime minister and ruler of Dubai, for their support to the national team.
