His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday held talks with New Zealand Foreign Minister Murray McCully on bilateral ties and the latest developments in the Middle East.

King Abdullah stressed during the meeting the need to bolster bilateral relations in all fields, especially the economy and investments, highlighting the importance of Governor General of New Zealand Lt. Gen. Sir Jerry Mateparae’s visit to the Kingdom next month.

Talks also focused on efforts to revive the Middle East peace process so as to arrive at a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian question, resulting in the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, according to the 1967 borders.

Regarding the crisis in Syria, the two sides emphasised the importance of finding an inclusive political solution that will guarantee the territorial integrity and unity of Syria, and alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people.

His Majesty discussed Jordan’s efforts to deliver humanitarian and medical aid to the Syrian refugees.

McCully voiced his country’s appreciation for the King’s efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region and attain comprehensive democratic reform, commending the Kingdom’s efforts in hosting large numbers of Syrian refugees.

The meeting was attended by Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh and Director of His Majesty’s Office Imad Fakhoury.
