His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday held talks with French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian on bilateral ties and regional developments.

During the meeting, King Abdullah reiterated the need to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis to spare the Syrian people more suffering and maintain the unity of the country.

The King noted that the burden of hosting large numbers of Syrian refugees outweighs Jordan’s capabilities and resources.

His Majesty voiced his appreciation to France for supporting Jordan’s relief services for Syrian refugees through the deployment of a French military hospital at the Zaatari refugee camp.

The French minister stressed his country’s keenness to boost relations with the Kingdom, expressing appreciation for the King’s efforts to achieve stability in the region.

Director of the King’s Office Imad Fakhoury, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff General Mashal Al Zaben and French Ambassador to Jordan Corinne Breuze attended the meeting.
