His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday received UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres , who is currently visiting the Kingdom to check on the conditions of Syrian refugees.
King Abdullah reviewed humanitarian and relief services provided by Jordan to the refugees in cooperation with international organisations, pointing to the pressure they place on the Kingdom's resources.
His Majesty urged the international community to shoulder its responsibilities towards the Syrian refugees in light of the increasing number of refugees fleeing Syria.
At the meeting, which was attended by Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh and His Majesty’s Office Director Imad Fakhoury, the King stressed the need for further efforts and coordination among UN organisations concerned with refugees.
Guterres voiced appreciation for the services provided by Jordan to the refugees, urging international bodies to support the Kingdom to enable it to continue its humanitarian aid to displaced Syrians.
